About ASIA Charitable Trust

ASIA Charitable Trust (ACT) is a Public Charitable Trust which was established in 1965 by Ahmedabad South Indian Association (ASIA). Founded by visionaries and stalwarts, ACT embarked on a journey to establish ASIA English School, as Ahmedabad had become the Karma bhumi for many south Indians. ACT is a beacon of education and cultural amalgamation. In almost six decades, under the inspiring leadership of personalities like Dr. Diggavi, Smt. Mrinalini Sarabhai, Mr. A Bhashyam, Mrs. & Mr. S Nagaswamy, Dr. John Geevarghese and many more, ACT flourished and expanded.

ACT has metamorphosed into an educational hub. Building institutions of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education – ASIA English School, JG International School, the JG Group of Colleges and JG University, ACT offers every educational board available in the country. ACT has helped empower thousands of students with the education that propel them to become champions of change themselves.

ACT has grown in leaps and bounds. The present Chairman Dr. MP Chandran has turns ACT’s dream into a reality by establishing the magnanimous JG University. ACT does not stand for just education or cultural activities, but its heart beats for charity and philanthropy. It’s forthcoming projects includes a state-of-the-art hospital and ASIA Bhavan. Today, ACT stands as a testimony to the power of commitment, community, culture, education and service.

Chairman's Desk

Dr. M. P. Chandran is the Chairman of ACT which owns and manages 17 colleges and three schools. Passionate about education, he has been in the forefront in all the endeavours of ACT. He is responsible for overall management of the schools and colleges under ACT. He believes in providing quality education and is now building a world class University – JG University which commenced operations in August 2023.

He has also been the Chairperson of the Education Task Force, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for the last few years.

He is a Post Graduate in Management with more than 30 years of experience at various Senior and Board level management with many well-known organizations like Bank of India, British Gas, UGC Gujarat Gas Ltd., Petroleum Infrastructure (P) Ltd.

Established in 1955, the Ahmedabad South Indian Association (ASIA) continues to serve as a guiding light for South Indians residing in Ahmedabad, committed to protecting and advancing their academic life. Our commitment extends beyond state boundaries to protect and preserve the diverse range of Dravidian languages and cultures, including Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. In 1965, ASIA evolved into the ASIA Charitable Trust (ACT), expanding its vision to revolutionise education in Gujarat. From pioneering the ASIA English Medium School to establishing institutions like JG College of Law in 2019, our journey has been marked by unwavering dedication to fostering learning and growth.
